Ever wonder where pet shop puppies come from? Every year, thousands of dogs are produced in commercial breeding mills (puppy mills) and backyard operations to stock pet store, newspaper and internet dog sales. These are puppy mill dogs, and thousands are rescued from horrific commercial breeding mills every year. Never buy a puppy from any pet store or internet site. Learn more about puppy mills.
Puppy mill dogs are living beings caught in a terrible cycle of human greed and profit. Organizations across the country are working tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home puppy mill dogs, and educate the public about the hidden side of pet store and internet puppies. Many organizations are also working hard to change legislation, regulating this terrible industry.
You can help organizations on the front line. Consider volunteering at your local shelter, help with legislation, make a much needed donation of supplies or money, consider fostering or adopting a rescued mill dog. Tell your friends and family why they should never buy a puppy from a pet store or online.
The National Mill Dog Rescue of Peyton Colorado has saved and re-homed more than 3,200 puppy mill dogs. That's a lot of grateful pups! If you are able, please consider visiting their website to make a donation. |
